A 41-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing a pensioner in Barnehurst has been released into the community on bail.
Albanian Gezim Delijah appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday morning charged with the manslaughter of Edward Syrad in Edendale Road.
A trial date was set for May 13.
He is also charged with robbery and possessing an imitation firearm with intent.
Delijah, who lives in Waltham Forest, has now been released from custody – where he has been kept since being charged 333 days ago – on conditional bail.
He has not been electronically tagged to track his whereabouts but has been ordered by the court to remain at his home address between 10pm and 7am each night.
Officers were called to Mr Syrad’s home at 10.30pm on January 25 last year following a burglary at the property.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as numerous severe blunt trauma injuries and heart failure.
