Apprenticeship boom in Bromley
RESEARCH has revealed there were almost a quarter more apprenticeships in Bromley last year than the year before.
Figures have shown there were 1,910 apprenticeships started in Bromley during the academic year (between January 2012 and November 2012).
This was a rise of 24 per cent from the previous year.
The trend was echoed across the capital as the Government encourage businesses to take on young people to train. More than 47,000 people began apprenticeships in London last year.
Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “Whenever I speak to businesses, a lack of trained workers is a frequent concern.
"Today’s figures mean we are starting to turn the tide. Over half a million people took up an apprenticeship last year, showing that our investment in vocational skills is paying off."
