A MURDER investigation has been launched after a woman in her 70s was stabbed in Catford yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to an address in Glenfarg Road around 1.30pm by London Ambulance Service after reports of the stabbing. The pensioner was taken to Lewisham Hospital but died later the same day.
Officers have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of the murder and he remains in custody in a south London police station.
Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating and a post mortem will be arranged shortly. Formal identification of the deceased is yet to be made.
