4:05pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News By Tim MacFarlan, Bexley and north Kent reporter
THE jury is out in the trial of a mental health patient accused of murdering a grandmother in the street in Bexleyheath.
Nicola Edgington, 32, stabbed two strangers: then 22-year-old Kerry Clark, who survived the attack, and Sally Hodkin, 58, who died after nearly being decapitated by a meat cleaver, it is alleged.
The attacks took place in Bexleyheath town centre on the morning of October 10, 2011.
The jury of seven men and five women at the Old Bailey has been sitting for nearly a month since the trial began on January 8.
Edgington, of Ambedkar House, Flavell Mews, Greenwich, pleaded not guilty to murder and one charge of attempted murder.
