DARTFORD Council is backing National Heart Month this February.

The council is supporting the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in trying to tackling the UK’s single biggest killer which claims one in six men and one in nine women.

The month kicked-off with Dartford Council staff and Swanscombe Leisure Centre employees rocking up to work in red on February 1.

Lead member for health Councillor Ann Allen said: “As a BHF Heart Town we wanted to get involved because the foundation does great work to research, support and educate people about the important subject of heart health.

“Here in Dartford we are encouraging residents to raise as much as possible for the nation’s heart charity in National Heart Month helping them to continue their vital, life-saving work.”

For the next in a series of events the town will be going red on Valentine’s Day with a Love your Heart, Love your Town celebration in the Orchards Shopping Centre on February 14 from 10am to 2pm.
