TWO West Wickham school children with diabetes have shared their experiences of the condition with the Duchess of Cornwall and a Hollywood actor.

Thomas Sugden, eight, and sister Beth, six, met Her Royal Highness and British film star Jeremy Irvine, who took the lead role in War Horse and also suffers from the illness, at University College Hospital in Euston last week (Jan 31).

The meeting was arranged by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a national charity of which The Duchess of Cornwall is president.

Thomas and Beth who attend Hawes Down School, in The Mead, West Wickham, both have type 1 diabetes and have insulin pumps which helps control the amount of glucose in their blood.

Mum Katy, who went along with Thomas and Beth, said: "We were all very excited to meet The Duchess of Cornwall.

"She is really committed to JDRF and families affected by type 1 diabetes."
