A ROBBERY has taken place this morning at a jewellers in Welling, with £5,000 worth of jewellery and watches stolen.
Police were called to H & T Pawnbrokers on Bellegrove Road at 10.50am after two men in balaclavas stole the items from the store.
One man held the door open whilst the other jumped over the counter of the shop, grabbing second-hand jewellery from the retail window.
Fortunately staff were able to get to a place of safety.
The men were not thought to be armed and no one was hurt in the incident.
Sue Dixon, Head of Security at H&T Pawnbrokers, said: “Thankfully instances such as these are rare, customer pledges remained secure at all times, no staff were injured and I’m pleased to say our security systems worked as deigned.”
No one has been arrested and an investigation by police is ongoing.

I suggest H&T make it easier for the thieves next time and offer to deliver the swag direct to their home, saving them a tiresome trip.
