A BOOK lover’s charity project raising £2,500 for Bexley Village library has finished with a quiz night.

The sold-out event for 94 quiz-goers at the Freemantle Hall in Bexley High Street on January 19 followed a festive bazaar and ‘20 miles to Christmas’ challenge.

Rounds included Lego film scenes, libraries and local knowledge, mammals and American presidents.

Chartered accountant Nicky Rushden is the brainchild behind the ‘Heart of the Village’ campaign in aid of the 100-year-old library.

The 46-year-old ran the project to raise funds for charity Greener Bexley which runs the library along with Bexley Council.

She said: "We wanted to do something to bring people together to help ensure Bexley keeps this beautiful library a wonderful part of the community for the years to come."

"We really have raised the profile of the library because a lot of people didn’t know about it before.

"It’s been a nice kick-start for fundraising for the library and it’s really encouraged people to come through the door."
