A 98-YEAR-old grandmother is distraught after being hauled out of her bed by a ruthless gang of thieves who ripped the wedding ring from her finger.

The "despicable" thugs smashed into Sarah Isaac’s Kidbrooke home and threw her onto her bedroom floor - leaving a gash on her arm - before looting her room while she watched helplessly on January 12.

They dragged the rings from her fingers - including her own and her dead husband’s wedding bands - ransacking her room before leaving with her purse, house keys and pension money.

The grandmother-of-two, who lives in Wricklemarsh Road, was already security-conscious and slept with her handbag under her pillow - which was also snatched - having been burgled twice before.

Granddaughter Kate Henderson, who lives in Wilson’s Way, Meopham, told News Shopper: "She was very distressed.

"My understanding is about three men gained access to her house through her back door, smashed a glass panel, went up to her bedroom, dragged her out of bed onto the floor, dragged the rings from her fingers, her bracelet, and left her lying there on the floor while they ransacked her room.

"She had to be taken to hospital - she had a gash in her arm where they had man-handled her off the bed."

Mrs Isaac, nicknamed ‘Cis’ as the eldest of seven children, suffers from dementia and is now terrified in case the villains return.

Her 37-year-old granddaughter says the family "feel sick" after the raid which left broken glass and clothes and mess strewn everywhere.

The head of customer care at an asset manager said: "I think they have to be the lowest of the low, I can’t understand what goes through somebody’s head.

"To actually physically attack a vulnerable 98-year-old woman - I just don’t understand it. "We worry about her falling but it didn’t occur to us that someone would target her. "You feel sick. It is just devastating."

Former school dinner lady Mrs Isaac, who has lived there for more than 60 years, cannot understand why she was targeted and stayed with her family because she was too scared to return home.

The widow is most upset about the loss of her beloved husband-of-60-years Arthur Isaac’s gold wedding ring and has made a public plea for its safe return.
