Southeastern cancels some early morning trains due to wintry weather

SOUTHEASTERN will be running its regular timetable tomorrow (January 21) but it will be cancelling some early morning services.

It says this is so it can use the carriages to run longer trains, making them less likely to fail.

A list of these cancelled services has been published on its website and can be viewed by clicking here.

The train company is advising passengers to check how their train services are running before leaving home – and consider if they need to make their journey.

If they do need to travel, passengers should allow additional time, and expect some services to be disrupted.

Network Rail’s snow and ice treatment trains and ‘ghost’ (empty) trains will be used overnight to endeavour to keep the rails clear for commuters needing to travel on Monday morning.

Additional Southeastern staff have been helping to clear snow from platforms and stairs at stations.

Was in the area and went to Barnehurst to get a train. All delayed or cancelled. I loved the comprehensive announcements to give us some idea of an ETA! (Not one!) Waited 30 mins and gave up. Working from the comfort of my house now instead.

Saw last night that my usual train (8.01 from Orpington to Lewisham) was cancelled & they were going to use the carriages to make other trains longer - yeah, right!

Went out to get the 7.41 - cancelled

Next train is 7.43 - but no-one could tell me if it would be running so I went home. I've now got to waste a days holiday or lose a days pay

"It says this is so it can use the carriages to run longer trains, making them less likely to fail."

HOW?

If they make trains longer they won't fit on the platforms!

Just another excuse

It hasn't snowed since yesterday evening - but just checking the train times & virtually every one is delayed - why? Surely they've had nearly a day without snow to get things sorted

saw some spokeswoman from South Eastern on the news last night saying they would run the best service they can. Doesn't look very good to me, bet she's not going to stand on a platform waiting for a train that doesnt turn up

Bring back British Rail

Glad I stayed at home! Just checked the timetable, from 15.10 to 16.10 there are 31 trains - 3 running late, 26 "delayed" 9in other words no idea if they'll run at all) so only 2 on time!
