Cannabis stash found in Beckenham car

A DRIVER in Beckenham was found with more than 1kg of cannabis in his car.

The Fiat Cinquecento was stopped at 9.25am yesterday in Elmers End Road after the car was flagged up as uninsured.

Police officers found cannabis under the driver’s seat and 1kg of the drug wrapped in a bag in the back seat. A black case containing even more of the class B drug was found in the boot.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from Croydon, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. He's been bailed pending further investigation until March 6.

A search of the suspect's home revealed more cannabis, scales and other drug-related items along with a quantity of cash.
