Slade Green to gain 210 extra school places

AN EXTRA 210 school places are set to be created in Slade Green after extension plans were given the go-ahead.

Bexley Council’s planning committee approved proposals to extend and refurbish Slade Green Infant and Junior Schools to include more classrooms, a new kitchen and landscaping for additional play and sporting facilities.

The decision was made at a meeting at Bexley Civic Offices on Thursday (Jan 10) and work is set to begin in mid-February.

The extension at the junior school is scheduled to be finished in September and the infant school by the beginning of November, with the school ready to open to pupils aged four to 11 in September 2014.

The work will be funded by an £8.5 million investment by Bexley Council.
