A RARE 19th century model of a Bromley church worth up to £12,000 is being sold at auction this month.
The "unusual" detailed silver replica of St Mark’s Church in Westmoreland Road, Bromley, is on a sale on January 29 at the world-famous Bonhams in Knightsbridge. It is thought to be worth between £8,000 and £12,000.
Leading society figure Sir Thomas Charles Dewey was presented with the model for his services as a church warden in 1905.
A Bonhams spokesman said: "As a successful businessman, Sir Thomas Charles Dewey became a generous patron in the area and was instrumental in the development of St Mark’s Church.
"His efforts in the local community continued with his great contribution to the First World War, helping wounded soldiers and made his residences in South Hill and Peak House available as hospitals.
"This piece is one of the most unusual items to feature in The Gentleman’s Library Sale."
