Bromley burglary rate booms

BROMLEY’S burglary rate has boomed over the last year according to new figures.
The number of residential break-ins in the borough has increased by 17 per cent from 1,912 in 2011 to 2,240 in 2012 despite a one per cent drop in burglaries London-wide.
The number of non-residential burglaries in the borough went up by eight per cent in contrast to the London average which saw a decrease of two per cent.
According to a report published last month by the Safer Bromley Partnership Strategic Group, hot spots for residential break-ins include Penge and Clock House.
A spokesman for Bromley police said: "Burglary has been an issue of concern for us throughout the last year.
"Like many outer London boroughs we are suffering from an increase in burglary and although we have a significant amount of our, and indeed the Met’s resources dedicated to tackling this problem, we continue to appeal for householders to remain vigilant."
