Children are being invited to travel back in time and go on a Victorian adventure with a royal rat catcher.

For nearly 70 years during the 19th century, Hall Place in Bexley was used as a boarding school for boys.

The grand reception rooms of the Tudor house were Victorian dormitories and classrooms for 80 pupils and their five teachers.

As part of National Story Telling Week, Bexley Heritage Trust is whisking families back to this era and introducing them to Mr Jack Black - the official rat catcher for Queen Victoria.

I’m a Victorian Get Me Out of Here is an educational and interactive show which covers a variety of unpleasant jobs including chimney sweeping and collecting excrement.

Audiences are encouraged to learn and laugh at the same time.

The show takes place on February 2 at 11.30am and lasts for one hour.

It is unsuitable for children under seven-years-old.
