TEENAGERS who dreamed up an Orpington skate park to give skateboarders and BMX riders somewhere to go were on hand to open the attraction’s £15,000 extension.
The facility in Tubbenden Recreation Ground came about after the safer neighbourhood panel for the area received lots of complaints about anti-social behaviour in parks and outside a supermarket.
Young panel members Bethany Archer and Nathan Bird, who were the head girl and boy at Darrick Wood School, volunteered to look into the issue and found out the children just wanted somewhere to go.
Mr Bird said: “We reported back to the local safer neighbourhood team and suggested that a tailor-made facility such as this would pretty much guarantee that the young people would gravitate towards it.
“The Safer Bromley Partnership provided some funding and this is the result.”
