A very special cat, with a very special hat, has left his Greenwich home for the bright lights of the West End.

Seussical, the magnificent musical by Greenwich-based Sell a Door Theatre Company, takes audiences on a magical journey through two of Dr Seuss’ most famous tales.

Audiences in the borough will already know the company well from their visits to Greenwich Theatre, with hits such as Spring Awakening, The History Boys and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

But this year, Sell a Door moved their operational base to the borough for good.

Now, thanks to support from Greenwich Theatre, they have been able to make their West End debut – a festive run of Seussical playing at the Arts Theatre until January 6.

James Haddrell, director of Greenwich Theatre, said: "The work we do in supporting young or emerging companies in realising their ambitions has become incredibly important at Greenwich Theatre.

“We work with different companies in different ways, supporting marketing, project management, fundraising and financial management, developing producing skills, providing office space or personal mentoring.

“Sell a Door have built an enviable reputation for high quality theatre in the last few years, so to be able to support their West End debut has been hugely rewarding for us.

“They have clearly created a show to be proud of - and we are delighted to now announce that the company will be back in Greenwich in February with a new production of the acclaimed Journey's End."

Co-conceived by comedy legend Eric Idle, theatregoers will see Horton the Elephant discover a tiny world floating through the air on a speck of dust, and then find himself left to guard an abandoned egg when Mayzie La Bird persuades him to look after it for her.
