WALKERS in Shooters Hill might have wondered if they were barking mad on seeing a pack of dogs roaming around in festive fancy dress on Sunday.

There were 20 rescued bull terriers kitted out in doggy-sized Santa costumes in Oxleas Wood to raise awareness of a "lovely" breed on December 16.

The walk highlighted the dogs’ plight – many of whom were rescued having suffered horrendous injuries and need expensive treatment before they can be re-homed.

Organiser of the event, run by charity Absolute Bull Terrier Rescue, Karen Lang said: "It was a really great walk. We got a lot of interest in the dogs – a lot of people stopping.

"It was about awareness, raising funds and showing they are a lovely breed of dogs."

What a fantastic breed of dog that is so misunderstood. These dogs are loyal, loving, great with children and very very humerous ! I have a rescue EBT and even after the abuse he suffered he still finds it in him to be loyal and loving by putting his trust back in humans! Well done Absolute Bull Terriers !

What's this, news about a bull terrier breed and no comments from the normal dog haters. But what about the NS own campaign to have all bull breeds muzzled in public?

Lovely dogs.

Great to see this very misunderstood breed getting some good PR. well done Absolute Bull Terriers. Our old girl is 12 now loves the sofa, loves the kids. We joke that she's a poodle in Zipped Bull Terrier suit. I'm only sorry that at the moment I cant give a nice home to a rescue. But when we are ready I know where to come!
