BECKENHAM shop owners have stripped off to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer.

A group of brave men have bared all for a good cause in a Calendar Girls-style reveal.

Villagers Sausages manager Ron Etheridge, who started the butchers in Beckenham High Street 13 years ago, said: "A cancer nurse came into my shop and said it was a great idea.

"When people see the pictures, they laugh. We’re not the youngest of men.
"Some teenagers have come in and said, ‘Oh, I’ll buy that for my mum for Christmas’."

The 45-year-old added: "We’ve been raising money for prostate cancer since 2005, when my dad died of the disease.

"I’ve got customers who are battling with it at the moment. We’ve already sold 100 copies.

"Nearby businesses have been really helpful.

"Lime Photographs, in Orpington High Street, did the pictures for free and Peach Design, in Wickham Road, donated the first batch of calendars."

Other nearby businesses pitched in including Antonio’s Male Grooming in Station Approach and four companies based in Beckenham High Street: Magill’s of London, The Kitchen Range, Horton’s Fish Mongers and Maria’s Coffee and Sandwich bar.
