Barry Saunders, Welling, 44

Why this design?

This is part of a work in progress.

I have a lot of old tattoos which I am now reworking and bringing together with Polynesian tribal designs.

This particular design represents my pet chameleon, Arnie.

How much did it cost?

It would have cost £120, but seeing as I own Demon Inkorporation, I get it for free!

Did it hurt?

It was a little bit tender under the arm but nothing I couldn’t cope with.

I’ve had lots of other tattoos, and this wasn’t as painful as some other parts of the body.

What did your friends say?

My friends are always intrigued as to what I’m having done because there is constantly something new being added.

La Vale (tattoo artist) is always coming up with new ideas and designs for the ongoing progress of my tattoo work.

Have you got any more?

I have my whole back and the top of my arms and shoulders covered in thick black tribal designs.

Surrounding this is the Polynesian, which will eventually bring it all together as one.

I also have my wife’s name on my finger and the word Dad down my forearm.

I had this done after my father passed away.

Luckily, owning the studio I can convince my artists to tattoo me whenever they have any free time.

*Barry’s tattoo was done by La Vale at Demon Inkorporation in Bellegrove Road, Welling
