THEY may not have had a flying carpet, but firefighters shared some genius tips to help Dartford pantomime-goers stay safe this Christmas.
Before the performance of Aladdin at the Orchard Theatre on Saturday (December 15) a Kent Fire and Rescue crew was on hand to remind people of simple steps they can take to protect their homes this festive season.
With a fire engine and equipment in tow the Dartford firefighters were joined in their winter safety campaign by young members of the panto cast and its star: EastEnders actor Steve McFadden.
Dartford watch manager Lee Abel said: "Every Christmas we see house fires which have potentially devastating effects and could easily be prevented.
"If we had three wishes this Christmas they would be for people to fit working smoke alarms on each level in their homes, make a fire escape plan and take extra care in the kitchen."
Orchard Theatre marketing officer Nic Greatrex added: "It went really well.
"The cast had great fun climbing into the engine.
"The kids were walking around like they were members of the fire brigade."
