NORTHFLEET homeowners were evacuated last night (December 4) after a block of flats flooded over five floors.
Residents living in Griffin Court, which is off Black Eagle Drive, reported hearing ‘a system popping’ shortly after 8pm.
Water then gushed out and flooded properties.
People were described as “piling out” of the flats when police arrived at the scene.
Kent Police officers remained at the flats for nearly three hours, with reports suggesting up to six police cars were in attendance.
When police left the scene at 11:10pm, the situation was left to the management of the building.
Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed they received a call to the flats at 8:09pm but were not required to do anything on arrival as police officers had the situation under control.
