Millwall vs Charlton - Emmanuel Frimpong and Danny Haynes make Twitter racism allegations

Danny Haynes Danny Haynes

Charlton subs Danny Haynes and Emmanuel Frimpong took to Twitter claiming they were the victims of "disgusting" racial abuse at the match against Millwall on Saturday (Dec 1).

Haynes and Frimpong both alleged they had been racially abused by Lions supporters during the goalless game at The Den.

Mr Haynes’s tweet read: "The MILLWALL fans 2day was disgusting. The racial abuse I received was embarrassing. Not impressed at all!"

Lewisham Police say they are investigating the matter and a spokesman for Millwall confirmed the club was also investigating.

Charlton Athletic declined to comment.

Are you condoning that we should just believe what people or even footballers say on twatter with out it being investigated?

Funny how Bolton's Marvin Sordell rasism story was dropped, when the truth is he was called a fish.

Also no news about the Charlton fans breaking seats, ripping out plumbing, smearing sh1t, lobbing smoke bombs at ball boys, and throwing flares on the pitch.

Perhaps The News Shopper should also mention that Frimpong has deleted the 'racism' post and has now tweeted how much he enjoyed the banter! Also before the high horse is mounted, Charlton fans may wish to view their own 'Charlton Life' forum where the vandalism issues above are glorified by some and a post on page 3 of the post match thread compares a Millwall player to a chimp. Offensive/racist you decide.
Johnnie Jackson's twitter post (also now removed) wasn't his finest moment, maybe Chris Powell advised him so.

For the avoidance of doubt, it was a black Millwall player the forum contributor refers to.

Official report from Millwall web site says that the accusation had been dropped. Can't see the national press shouting about the case being withdrawn!!!! More bad PR for Millwall but the damage has been done.

We do love a "bandwagon" in this country, especially footballers who don't get their own way.....I don't believe anything until Paul Herbert has made his public statement!
