FATHER Christmas, lanterns, special offers and fireworks are all part of the line-up in Woolwich as the festive season kicks in.

On December 8, Father Christmas's reindeer and sleigh will be part of a lantern-lit procession through Woolwich’s General Gordon Square at 5.30pm.

The special day, running from midday to 6pm, will also see an owl display, choirs, market and fairground rides along with free drinks and festive treats.

From December 11 to December 22, the Woolwich Winter Warmer will celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with a dozen daily special offers from shops and restaurants.

Each afternoon school and community choirs will sing around the square's tree.

The Royal Artillery band will also be performing on December 14 at 2pm while December 22 sees a grand finale of events, with freebies, rides and a firework display at 5pm.
