A FORMER Bromley College student has won a national industry prize.

Becky Shailer, 25, won the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award.

She finished studying for the Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management at the college, in Rookery Lane, in July.

Ms Shailer was chosen because of her innovative solution engaging young employees within Kent County Council, where she works.

She re-launched Kent County Council’s Younger Persons’ Staff Group, Aspire, through which she leads more than 20 projects, in addition to her day-to-day role.

Ms Shailer said: “I am so pleased and excited to be announced as the Outstanding Student at the recent CIPD Awards.

“It is such an honour to be recognised for all the hard work I have put into my studies and the council's staff group and Aspire."

She won the prize on October 17.
