THOUSANDS of young book-worms from across Bexley took part in this year’s summer reading challenge.
Fourteen Bexley Council libraries hosted the free Storylab challenge between July and September this year.
A total of 4,453 children signed up to take part and just under half of them – 2,101 in total – finished the challenge by reading the required six or more books.
Ward councillors presented certificates to those who finished the completed the task at ceremonies held in each library.
Children from each branch who had made a special effort were also invited to a celebration event at the council’s Civic Offices were they received a prize from the Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Alan Downing.
