LAST weekend's Run to the Beat half-marathon could be Greenwich's last after organisers were acused of making "errors".

Greenwich Council cabinet member for community safety and environment Councillor Maureen O'Mara criticised organisers IMG for a lack of communication with residents over road closures and disruption.

At a full council meeting last night, Councillor Geoff Brighty asked why there had never been a proper consultation on the race and whether a review would solve the problem.

Cllr O'Mara replied: "I do think errors were made this year. I think it's about speaking to residents, informing them of the roads that are going to be closed."

She went on: "If this is going to return to the borough, it needs to be with residents fully understanding what's going to happen in their streets.

"If residents say 'we don't want it' then we'll have to talk to IMG about that."
