A WELLING mum has inspired 60 people to run a half marathon for her son's charity.

Emma Salisbury helped raise £10,000 for the Tommy Salisbury Choroideremia Fund, founded in conjunction with the charity Fight for Sight.

Her son Tommy, 12, has the rare eye condition choroideremia and in the past seven years, Emma and her family have raised over a quarter of a million pounds to fund research into how to treat the rare sight loss condition.

The Yorkland Avenue resident and marketing PA ran the Run to the Beat half marathon on Sunday, October 28, in two hours, 38 minutes.

The 41-year-old said: "I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the support of 60 friends and family.

"I wouldn’t call myself a natural runner; but a half marathon is a small step on the way to finding a potential treatment which could be available in the future for Tommy and other people living with choroideremia."
