DOREEN Lawrence was rewarded for her tireless anti-racism campaigning at the Pride of Britain Awards this week (October 29).

The mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence won a lifetime achievement award on the ITV show which recognises inspirational British people.

It comes a few weeks after she was presented with a Women of the Year award for her 19-year battle to bring her son’s killers to justice.

Thanks to the 60-year-old’s work, a public inquiry was held into the way police dealt with the black teenager’s murder - leading to major changes to the way murder investigations are handled.

Prime Minister David Cameron joined with other celebrities on the annual TV show to praise unsung British heroes including an acid attack victim, children who have fought illnesses, and the athletes of Team GB and Paralympics GB.
