LEWISHAM residents can pay tribute to those who have died in war with two Remembrance Sunday events this year.

The borough will be marking the day with one event at the war memorial in Upper Brockley Road and another at the Lewisham High Street war memorial on November 11 at 10.55am.

A marching band will lead troops to and from the war memorial in Lewisham High Street with a two minute silence at 11am and Sedgehill School Band playing music including the last post.

The service will be led by chaplain of Lewisham NHS Trust Father Malcolm Hancock and Lewisham branches of the Royal British Legion will attend both locations.

The smaller event in Upper Brockley Road, at the junction with Lewisham Way, will be led by Reverend Heston Groenewald from St John’s Church and will hold a two minute silence at 11am.

The Deputy Mayor of Lewisham will lead the wreath-laying at both of the free services and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
