A FAMILY whose daughter killed herself at Beckenham Junction station have talked about the "hole" left in their lives.

Parents of Rosie Whitaker, 15, have organised a fundraiser to honour her memory and help prevent other young people taking their own lives.

The 15-year-old, of Wickham Road, threw herself in front of a train after self-harm websites encouraged the "popular, beautiful girl" to take her own life.

The Langley Park School for Girls pupil was pronounced dead at the scene on June 11.

In a bid to stop future tragedies, Rosie’s family have organised volunteers to raise money through the 10k Brighton Brooks run, across the Brighton and Hove seafront.

The funds will go to Papyrus, a national charity committed to the prevention of young suicide.

In England and Wales alone around 24,000 attempted suicides are made by 10 to 19 year olds.

More than £7,000 has rolled in to the Rosie Whitaker Memorial Fund so far since the teenager’s death, all of which will go directly to Papyrus.

On the Justgiving website, Rosie’s mother Vanja wrote: "We don't want any other family to go what we have been through, so hopefully something positive can come from this tragedy.

"For most of her life, she was very happy and well-loved, so her sudden and tragic death has left a huge hole in many lives.

"Rosie was a popular, beautiful girl who brought joy to everyone through her various talents."

She added:  "Having run the 5K Race for Life for Cancer Research UK and the Adidas Women's 5K challenge for the NSPCC, Rosie was very enthusiastic about raising money for good causes."
