THE JURY is out in the case of a teenager accused of murdering and assaulting his older lover's three-year-old son.

Cameron Rose, aged 18, of Court Road, Eltham, is accused of murdering epileptic Rhys Lawrie at the home of the child’s mother Sadie Henry in Columbus Square, Erith, on January 21 last year.

He is also accused of assaulting the toddler on two other occasions he was left alone to care for him in December 2010 and on January 17, 2011.

Miss Henry is now 28 but she was 26 and Rose aged 16 when the pair began a relationship in 2010. 

A jury of seven women and five men at the Old Bailey retired at 10am this morning (October 30) at the close of the four-and-a-half-week trial which began on September 28.  

Rose denies one count of murder and two of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
