“If you were reincarnated as a computer - with only enough memory space for one Bond girl - who would you save and why?”

That was the ingenious question student Lydia Maddix decided to ask the real 007, Daniel Craig, after winning a whacky BBC Radio 1 contest to interview Bond.

The imaginative 19-year-old from Catford was one of thousands across the country to enter by recreating their favourite scene from the spy films in an original, and bizarre, 60 second video.

She was stunned to become one of five lucky amateur filmmakers to be whisked off in Aston Martins to a luxury London hotel last week to meet Daniel Craig – who turned out to be shorter than expected - and his Skyfall co-star Naomie Harris.

Lydia, whose dream it is to become a radio and TV presenter, said: “All I do is get home late and get up early to go to uni.

“Last Monday (October 15) I was on the way home, listening to Radio 1, and thinking about what I could do to show I can still be creative and crazy.

“As soon as I thought that, the competition was announced.

“I would never normally go for it but we’d just done four hours on my radio course about how to interview people and then I heard about the competition.”

With around 24 hours to film her favourite scene – the infamous laser moment in Sean Connery’s Goldfinger – Lydia launched into action, enlisting the help of her nephews Kurtis, four months, and four-year-old Kyle.

Lydia added: “I've been creating comedy sketches on my YouTube channel for almost a year now and thought this could be a great opportunity for my work to be viewed by the BBC.”

With Kurtis cast in the role of baby Bond, Kyle as Spiderman (the videos were only loosely based on the movies) and Lydia taking on Goldfinger with cling film wrapped around her head, the scene was set.

The BBC loved the quirkiness of Lydia’s clip and commended the addition of Spiderman when they rang her to say she’d made the top 25 entries.

She continued: “I literally almost threw my phone across the train carriage in shock.

“I was going crazy.

“It was all very surreal but so worth it.”

Turning up to interview the stars last Monday (October 22), each winner got to ask the celebrity duo one question.

Lydia, who studies English literature with film, radio and television, said: “It was so tense – we were all just smiling, we couldn’t believe it when Daniel Craig walked in.

“He’s a lot shorter in real life, I’m taller than him and I’m 5ft7.

“In the films he looks like this tall, hunky kind of guy.

“But his eyes were so piercing blue when you’re in the room with him and he’s looking at you – they’re like a deep sea blue.

“When I asked my question they were shocked and their faces just lit up.

“They thought it was a fresh and funny question.

“Of course he said Noamie Harris, maybe because she was there.

“But he also said he would be working with her again – so maybe that’s a bit of a scoop.”

Lydia hopes to secure work experience with BBC Radio 1 after her university course is over.
