A CHARITY has been working with Bexley Council to improve an overgrown stretch of the National Cycle Network in Slade Green.
Pedestrians and cyclists can now enjoy the path running along Crayford Marshes after it was widened and brambles and long grass were cut back.
Work was carried out by nine Sustrans volunteers - a charity which offers cost-effective initiatives to help people travel by foot, bike or public transport.
The project is jointly funded by the Cory Environmental Trust and Bexley Council.
Cabinet member for environment and public realm, Councillor Gareth Bacon, said: "This is a great example of what we can achieve when working in partnership with other organisations.
"By having the help of Cory and Sustrans we've saved in the region of £10,000.
"I am delighted that we have been able to open up this beautiful area of land for the community that is ideal for leisurely strolls and family cycle rides."
