SWANLEY pupils were left more than impressed after a visit from an Olympic athlete to one of their schools.
Team GB bronze medal hockey star, Alex Danson, came to Hextable School, in Egerton Avenue, as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport project.
She played hockey with its pupils and local primary school children, giving them some advice on leadership and goal setting.
The project works with the Youth Sport Trust to bring stars to schools to inspire their students.
Miss Danson said: “I came away from Hextable School feeling incredibly inspired by the commitment of the young people I met.
“Hearing how the pupils are putting their new skills and lessons they have learned into practice is a fantastic example of how sport has the power to change lives.”
Lisa Baker, head of PE at Hextable School said: “Alex’s visit was an inspiring reward for our pupils who have shown great commitment and dedication to their Sky Sports Living for Sport project.
“The students loved hearing Alex’s story and sharing their experiences with her.
“Most importantly, our young people have learned first-hand that sport can teach them so much.
“Whether it is the social skills needed to be a team player or the focus and determination required to do a job well, Sky Sports Living for Sport is helping them to learn important life lessons.”
The Dartford primary schoolchildren that attended were from The Brent Primary School in London Road, Oakfield Community Primary School, in Oakfield Lane, Horizon Primary Academy, in Hilda May Avenue and Temple Hill Community Primary School in Temple Hill.
