BROMLEY cops are taking part in a day of action targeting uninsured drivers illegally using the borough’s roads.

As part of the Met’s Operation Cubo they are running roadside check points with an automatic number plate reader van to check drivers details.

And they are also giving out advice on how to avoid becoming a victim of vehicle crime.

Leading Operation Cubo in Bromley Chief Inspector Carron Schusler said: "The overwhelming majority of people who don't insure their cars are also habitual criminals and we are targeting these criminals by denying them the use of the roads so it's much harder for them to commit crime.

“Since March this year we have now seized and removed 450 vehicles from Bromley's roads, helping to make our roads safer as uninsured drivers are more likely to have collisions and less likely to have road-worthy vehicles.

“Cubo uses highly visible, but effective tactics that capture criminals in the act and deter their offending, while reclaiming London's roads for responsible and law-abiding drivers."
