MOTORISTS offered a musical accompaniment to hundreds of midnight walkers, including comedian Jo Brand, who were raising money for a hospice.

The third St Christopher’s Hospice Midnight Walk saw 419 people take to the streets of Crystal Palace, Penge and Sydenham to complete the five mile course.

So far the event has raised more than £20,000 of the hospice’s £40,000 target with all the money raised going to its Candle Project, which provides bereavement support.

Jo Brand said: “An unusual way for me to spend a Saturday night but pounding the pavements of Mr Paxton's patch was, surprisingly, a huge pleasure and achievement for me and the other walkers. “My sincere thanks to all who joined me for the evening, the fantastic organisation and the passing motorists who offered a musical accompaniment.”
