New eco diploma for youngsters

11:30am Tuesday 7th October 2008

YOUNGSTERS could have the chance to better understand their environment with the launch of a new green diploma.

The Environmental and Land-based Studies diploma from the Bromley Education Business Partnership (EBP) could go on offer to pupils at school or college from 2010, teaching them about plants, animals and sustainable environments.

More than 30 pupils from Glebe School, Coopers Technology College and Bishop Justus School got the chance to learn more about the mooted diploma at an event at the BEECHE centre in High Elms Country Park today (October 7).

Operations manager at Bromley EBP Lesley Holland said: "It was a great one-day opportunity for students and will give them a much better idea of the sort of topics the diploma might offer as well as putting their classroom-based theory in the context of the real world."
