A TEENAGER from Thamesmead who died after the 4x4 she was travelling in overturned in heavy floods has been named.

Louise Ferreira, who is believed to be from Malthus Path, was killed after the blue Land Rover Discovery rolled over and plunged into a river near Powys-Ceredigion border in mid-Wales.

She was given first aid after being freed from the back of the vehicle before being airlifted to hospital at around 5.45pm on Friday (September 5).

The two people she was in the vehicle with at the time of the accident were taken to the same hospital in Aberystwyth suffering from hypothermia.

They have since been released but 17-year-old Louise died shortly after she arrived.

The trio were part of a convoy of three off-road vehicles touring the forestry roads above Llyn Brianne Reservoir, Powys.

Neighbour Catherine Gyasi, 44, said: "She's a very quiet girl, she's not the type that is a troublemaker at all.

"When I heard I couldn't believe it."

The teenager is believed to be a pupil at Bexley Business Academy.

Temporary Inspector Martin Tavener said: "We ask that persons be sensible during this period of inclement weather as there is the potential for a similar tragedy, especially when undertaking this type of activity in remote areas where mobile telephones do not work."

I was devastated when I heard the news yesterday that the teenager involved in the accident was Louise. Louise was a model student. She was very quiet and polite. I loved every moment that she walked into my classrom. Just before the summer holidays I said to her "your parents must be very proud of you Louise", as usual, she gave me a big smile. She will be missed greatly. My thoughts are with her family at this sad time and I pray that the good Lord will comfort them all. RIP Louise.

Louise is my baby sister, I'm her big sister. Nothing will ever be the same again. All she wanted to do was celebrate her GCSE results by camping whilst most other girls her age would be out getting drunk and trying to get into clubs they aren't old enough to get into in the first place. But all Lu wanted to do was tell ghost stories, eat pop corn and go camping! The world is so messed up, why take her when there so much scum out there? My world makes no sense. My sons, Lu's nephews will miss her forever. Love you Baby Sister xxx
