BUS and tube fares will go up next year to above the rate of inflation.
For Oyster card holders a single bus fare will increase by 10p to £1 but singles paid in cash remain the same at £2.
A one day bus pass on Oyster and tram passes are up from £3 to £3.30 with the printed ticket remaining at £3.50.
Oyster card tube fares remain the same as does a cash fare single in zone one, although singles outside central London will go up to £3.20.
Freedom passes will be valid 24 hours a day instead of only outside peak time.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Some of us will pay a little more but I have ensured fares will remain affordable, especially for people who rely on public transport most."

How about getting some of the money back by charging the children who currently use buses - free of charge - as extensions of their own, scummy backyards, making other passengers' journeys utterly miserable with their abusive language, mobile phones and filthy habits such as nose-picking and spitting. If their parents can't afford the fares, the children will have to walk or cycle and in the process, lose some of the flab from their under-used, fat bodies. Your Lord, Erastus Theobald Piggott

It is all very well to say that price and fare rises are "ridiculous", none of us like price rises, but do Cheryl and Emma imagine that the government has a bottomlesss pit of money to provide services? Without inevitable increases, where do people suppose that the money is going to come from? So "unpleasnt", yes but ridiculous is not the most appropriate word to use as increases such as these (and they are proprtionately modest increases) are inevitable. How else might these services be otherwise financed? I would be interested to read other peoples' suggestions as to how this might otherwise be achieved without price increases. We have to be realistic.
