A HEALTHCARE watchdog report has rated mental health care in south-east London as 'good' - putting it among the best services in the country.

The latest Healthcare Commission survey looked at the quality of the NHS acute inpatient mental health services across England.

Oxleas NHS Mental Health Trust was given an overall score of three, making it one of the 20 trusts to receive a good' rating.

The trust provides mental health and learning disability services for people living in the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

A breakdown of the results ranked Oxleas as the second best trust in London and the south-east.

The Commission's chief executive Anna Walker said: "We have thrown an intense spotlight on these services in a way that has never been done before.

"It is clear that it is possible to provide patients with excellent acute hospital care and that some organisations are doing exactly that."
