THE parents of a 16-year-old boy from Deptford murdered by an armed gang have thanked the woman who tried desperately to save him.

Last night the parents of Shakilus Townsend, of Tanners Hill, Deptford, visited the scene of his death in Thornton Heath.

The boy, known as Shaki to his family, was attacked at around 1.45pm on Thursday (July 3) by a gang of three boys and a girl.

He was repeatedly stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat and died the next day.

His mum Nicola Dyer and dad Derek thanked mum-of-four Sharon Simpson, 47, for her brave actions in trying to her their son.

The three boys involved in the attack are described as black, aged in their mid-teens, wearing hooded tops.

When they confronted Shakilus they had their hoods up and bandannas over the lower half of their faces, leading police to think the attack was planned and targeted.

The fourth member of the gang is a black girl, aged in her mid-teens and wearing a floral dress.

Anyone with information should call 020 8721 4205 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The gates of heaven opened wide
the angels lined up side by side
a special guest was on their way
the day they took this angel away.

Having now seen the sick photos of this gang member on the internet brandishing a knife and a gun I completely withdraw my above comment.

Apart from "This has to stop"

Why would you now NOT want to send your sympathies to his Family ?
Its not their fault their Son was mixing with the wrong crowd!
His Family will STILL be heartbroken, they have STILL lost a Son who they adored

Me says - "Mixing with the wrong crowd"... like he was scrumping apples or something. He WAS the wrong crowd.

His behaviour was disgusting and vile. No loss to our society.

Hold up...Is there any proof that he had commited a crime ?
I havent read anywhere that he had used a knife!
Yes there are pictures of him holding a knife but there has been no evidence of "disgusting and vile behaviour"

So in a nut shell...
Are you pleased he is dead ?

He was only 16 and he's dead. That makes him a loss to society in my book. Nobody's beyond redemption, especially not someone that young.

I think we need to take a good look at why so many young kids are doing this. Or are you saying they were all born evil?
