FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a woman and a child who were trapped because of a blaze in their building.

The fire damaged about half of the lobby of the block of flats in Kent House Lane, Beckenham, and the pair were rescued from the second floor.

Two adults and two children managed to escape before crews from Forest Hill, Downham, Beckenham and Woolwich arrived.

The crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes on Friday (June 27) after being called at around 7pm.

It is not yet known what caused the fire and it is being investigated.

MORE BREAKING NEWS: Police have made several arrests today as criminals have been active due to the mild weather conditions.

Lastly: An adhoc amateur news reporter got smacked in the mouth for making belittling comments

Sarcy, this is a local newspaper and the article is about local news.

Incidentally, your 'joke' about the police making arrests due the mild weather does not work.

Leave the humour to the professionals.
