I sinserely hope the guy pulls through and makes a full recovery but the amount of motorcyclists that drive like they are in the TT races when using the A2 is disgusting and dangerous. These idiots don't give a **** about other road users and have no regard for their nearest and dearest as if they did they would not ride like they do. They unfortunately make us tar all of them with the same brush. I do not have any feelings for these idiots if they crash so long as they don't injure others.

Max - whilst I too am aware of the behavior of some motorcyclists, I feel it inappropriate to raise them with regard to this news report as injuries are said to be life threatening and the circumstances of the accident not revealed. Lets just hope the motorcyclists recovery will be swift and complete.

Not all bike riders ride their bike like they are at the TT Races how do u know someone elsr didn't cause the accident (so many people are quick to comment but do not know the facts) I hope the rider makes a speedy recovery and gets weel soon

Max,if you are so shallow to tar all motorcyclists with the same brush then what about car/lorry drivers eh! Does that mean you? My Brother was killed on a motorcycle when travelling on the right side of the road by a car driver who did not bother to look when making a right hand turn in front of him. I am one of his nearest and dearest and that car driver got away with it. Not even a slap on the wrist!!!! How do you expalin that to me eh? Please leave your prejudice, which is obvious, about bike riders for the apppropriate time and place. Dear family and friends of the motorcyclist, I do sincerely ( spelt correctly) hope that all is well and that you are not going through what so many others have gone through. I will watch this space for more news of the person involved.

I hope this poor motorcycilist recovers from this sad accident, having lost 2 people i know in a bike and car accident let me tell you it still hurts just the same, lets hope this poor sole lives to tell the tale, my sincere love goes to the family of this person.

if the police bothered to enforce the law with regards to mobile phone use i'm sure there would be many fewer accidents of this sort , as a motorcyclist myself i find that many people who pull across my path or pull out on me are talking on the phone or even texting whilst driving , what is the point of this law if it's not even inforced ,

Most bike accidents are always caused by car drivers who simply don't do the following. Mirrors, Signal, Maneuver. Hope he/she recovers soon.

Motorcyclists on the A2 do turn a 3 lane carriageway into 5. Every night they overtake me on both left & right (i.e. between lane 1&2 or 2&3)I just wish they all overtook on one side. Sadly its most if not all who do this. No one can lay blame until the facts are given by the Police / media and we shouldn't assume its this riders fault. Lets hope he/she has a speedy recovery.

My comments refer to motorcyclists on the A2 if read my comments carefully. I use the A2 every day and every yes every day I see motorcyclists driving like lunatics and just like BrianW above states makes the A2 a five lane cariageway. I only tar the motorcyclists using the A2 with the same brush not others as I to am an advanced motorcyclist an even train others. But for some reason when they are on the A2 all the training in the world goes to pot. I agree that there are lunatic car/van and lorry drivers out there on all roads but I don't consistent bad driving on the A2 by these as you do with motorcyclists.

How do you know that this accident was caused by the behaviour you describe Max?

As details of the crash have not been released we do not know how it happened - it may have been caused by a car driver drifing from lane to lane or something totally unrelated to the victims style of riding therefore, as I said, this news report is an inappropriate venue for your comments.

C from Gravesend I am sorry to hear about your brother but if the car driver was at fault rest assured the Traffic Dept of any Police Force within the UK thoroughly investigate all serious or fatal accidents, even taking the vehicles concerned away for forensic tests. If the car driver had been at fault he would have been charged. I agree with Max in response to the motorcyclists that use the A2, they are an absolute menace and extremely dangerous. Numerous motorcyclists have been killed or seriously injured over the past several years. Please slow down guys and use the lanes sensibly. Lets not see anymore accidents.

Its called filtering, not illegal, progression. I use the A2 daily on a motorcycle, yes there are some who think they are at the TT, but most, experienced, motorcyclists have there wits about them more than the vast majority of car drivers. I have done over 300,000 miles on a motorcycle (over 200,000 on the A2) and I have seen more lunatics in cars than motorcycles, by far...

Again ALL motorcyclists are being treated as one!??!?! One of my friends at just 19 years old was killed on the A2 when a lorry didn't slow down and hit his bike. And to my knowledge 5 years on the driver (who originally left the scene) has never been charged, instead witnesses and other people surrounding this accident live everyday with that horrific memory. Just last week a innocent man lost his life locally when he was involved in an accident with a drink driver........it is people like this that are the menaces and extremely dangerous, the people that get in ANY vehicle and drive illegally in ANY way. There is no specific group of drivers/riders - accidents can happen anywhere and involve anyone, the horrible thing is its the innocent ones that usually become the victims!!!

I drive a car and ride a bike on the A2 and there are riders who act careless and have no regard for their safety, and there are car drivers who drive like absolute menaces. It's not the mode of transport thats at fault but the person using it. People should understand that when riding a bike no matter who's at fault chances are you'll get hurt in any collision. Where car drivers have a greater chance of walking away with just a bruised ego and insurance claim. A lot of people dont realise that there are a lot of young people age sixteen riding mopeds on the road who are inexperienced and have very little road knowledge. THINK BIKE

I also drive a car and ride a bike, unfortunately I have to regularly undertake car drivers on the M4 as they just simply wont give way in the overtaking lane and it pains me to say it but Max is probably right about the way bikers ride on the A2, but on the other hand it's not them I'm worried about it's the coach drivers!!!! They are just crap!
