| Eight windows at the centre were smashed |
FOUR men arrested in connection with criminal damage at the Stephen Lawrence Centre have been released without charge.
Police say there is insufficient evidence to mount a prosecution.
The building in Brookmill Road, Deptford, was vandalised on February 14 just one week after opening.
Eight windows at the £10m centre, for young people interested in architecture, were smashed in the attack.
The windows featured a facade by award-winning artist Chris Ofili.
Borough commander of Lewisham police Chief Superintendent Alan Pughsley said: "The investigation is still ongoing.
"We are determined to pursue those responsible for this criminal act and appeal to anyone with any information to come forward."

You can build 10, 20 30, Stephen Lawrence Centres and we will still have scum bags on our streets. Gangs of ferel kids wont and dont use any Centres, walking the streets armed and dangerous is all they know

I would love to know if they get a buzz, a feeling of glee or think it makes them look big! I honestly can not understand it!.
Walking through Bexleyheath this a.m there was a man clearing smashed glass from a phone box! What do these animals get from smashing windows, glass phone boxs & bus stops it makes this litter ridden dirty country look worse than it is (if possible).
I agree with Anita there are not many kids that appreciate the help they are being offered by centres such as the one in this article, its such a shame.

Maybe because if it was a white man killed by a black man they wouldn't have a centre in their name. This is obvisley going to cause trouble just shows that country shows more respect to ethnic people instead of British people its a disgrace! Fair enough there is no reason to be smashin property up but can understand why some peole would get annoyed with this.
