Pair jailed for raping girl

TWO teenagers have been sentenced to a total of 12-and-a-half years behind bars for the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

The attack happened on August 20 last year after the girl was chased across Woolwich Common.

The victim's screams for help were ignored by two women walking across the common.

The girl was repeatedly raped for an hour and threatened with a firearm at the back of Ruegg House and Watling House.

A 17-year-old from Woolwich was found guilty of rape and possession of a firearm on March 4 at Inner London Crown Court.

He was sentenced to seven years on Friday (May 9).

Andrando Flowers, aged 18, from Southwark, pleaded guilty to rape on February 28 at Inner London Crown Court.

He was sentenced to five-and-a-half years.

Detective Constable Marie Marshall, of Greenwich CID, said: "I would like to praise the victim and her boyfriend who has supported her throughout her ordeal - they both displayed great strength of character.

"The victim was subjected to a terrifying experience.

"I hope that the results of our investigation will help her to move on and rebuild her life."
