Four New Cross rioters locked up for Currys looting

FOUR people have been locked up after looting a Currys store during the London riots.

Abdullahi Ahmed, aged 21, of Conisborough Crescent, Catford, was jailed for 20 months for burglary at Inner London Crown Court on October 21.

CCTV showed him driving a Grey Renault Megane to the store, taking a flat screen TV and stashing it in his boot.

At his home, officers discovered mobile phones, a 3D television and a digital camcorder all taken from the Currys branch.

Another hapless trio were caught by police as they attempted to take items including a television, iPod docking station and Freeview box from the New Cross Road store.

On October 21 at Inner London Crown Court, unemployed Bill Chisoko, aged 18, of Wild Goose Drive, New Cross was sentenced to 16 months for burglary.

A 17-year-old student, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to 12 months detention and training at a young offenders institute.

Mark Patterson, aged 24, a voluntary worker from Queens Road, New Cross, was also sentenced to 16 months.

All four had pleaded guilty to burglary.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Abraham Pino from Lewisham’s Operation Withern team said: "These sentences shows that those who thought they could get away with pillaging from our communities will be made to pay for their actions.”
