More than half of mums turn to their own mums for support and almost all mothers would say the role is rewarding.

In the run up to Mother's Day (March 15) Buyagift.com surveyed 851 mums to find out how they coped with the pressure of raising little one's. 

1. 63 per cent of new mums feel pressured to go back to work after having children.

2. 38 per cent of woman asked said they would rather be stay at home mums if they could.

3. 74 per cent of women asked say their monthly outgoings have gone up by more than £100 since having children.

4. 63 per cent of women claim they felt unprepared to become a mum.

5. 56 per cent of women said they get the most support from their own mums.

6. 43 per cent of mum's biggest worry is not being able to protect their kids from drugs and violence.

7. Only 32 per cent of mums prefer to relax by seeing family members.

8. Despite traditional streotypes, only eight per cent of mums would spend time baking if given half-a-day to themselves.
