Rumour has it that southerners class 'the north' as anywhere more northerly than Watford - but is the north/south divide real?
Having moved from East Yorkshire to South East London six months ago News Shopper reporter, Fiona Simpson, shares the five most obvious differences between the north and south:
1. A distinct lack of sheep.
The east Yorkshire countryside is littered with the wooly little critters but I am yet to see any sheep down south.
2. Frequent trains and buses.
Southeastern may get some flack but anything that turns up more than once an hour is a huge novelty.
3. The confusion over the names of mealtimes.
To Yorkshire lass lunch is called dinner and dinner is called tea - this has led to extreme confusion with people filling the kettle when all I want is an evening meal.
Yorkshire pudding for tea?
4. No one says 'mint.'
if someone described you as 'mint' in Yorkshire it would be a vast compliment. In the south it seems mint is still just the name of a herb.
5. 'London prices.'
An obvious last choice but when I can buy a round of drinks for £9 in Yorkshire, it really is noticeable.
