Historic Hever Castle will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with its very own “Tudor Queen” presiding over a spectacular holiday weekend of entertainment.

The childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second of Henry VIII’s six wives, is staging a programme of Tudor-themed fun over the extended bank holiday from June 2 to 5.

Hever’s own Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn will preside over the merriment, including Tudor music, jesters, have-a-go archery and craft demonstrations from the period.

Children will be invited to come in costume for a chance to win a competition to find the best dressed prince and princess. In the castle there will be a display of copies of the coronation jewels including crowns and exquisite royal jewellery. The exhibition, A Royal Romance, will revisit Anne Boleyn’s coronation with a replica of her coronation gown.

Hever visitors can also enjoy the historic castle and beautiful grounds which feature award-winning gardens , a water maze, and an adventure playground. The Guthrie Pavilion restaurant and cafe, and the Moat Restaurant will be open for coffees, snacks and lunches.

In the evenings there’s a Royal Variety Performance on Saturday, June 2 and the Cinema Under the Stars will screen The King’s Speech on Sunday and Monday, June 2 and 3. Visit www.heverfestival.co.uk for details.

The weekend revelry will be followed by Royal Half Term Fun from June 6 – 10. The Best of British Garden Festival from June 15 to 24, featuring beautiful floral displays created by Sevenoaks NAFAS filling the castle rooms with colour and fragrance to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

Classic car lovers have the opportunity to view around 150 Aston Martin cars up close on Sunday, June 24, rounding off a month of celebrations.
